Fitted to the paddle shaft to create a point of refference for where your blades are facing without having to look and see.

Often called a Paddle Index or Paddle Locator. Usually glued or taped to the shaft then covered by Heat shrink, However it can also be cover by smooth Duct Tape to retro fit it onto a 1 pc paddle which you cannot put heat shrink onto.
